home again
I really don't know how to put into words what our life is like right now. I guess I keep waiting for normal to happen, and now I think I know that it just won't, ever. 2 weeks ago seems like another life, and I feel like its a life that was ours now we have this one where our perspectives are like night and day. For 12 days we lived as a family with a child who had cancer and I know this has just completly changed the makeup of our family. I am so grateful that this is something I only had to experience for those 2 weeks, and I am so grateful that there is no cancer. We have only begun our journey into what we will be now considering normal, and its amazing how much we have learned.
The greatest thing I have learned is that there are two kinds of balls in life, rubber ones and glass ones. The rubber ones you can drop and know that eventually they will bounce back, but those glass ones you hold on to with all your heart and soul. I am currently finding that my life is full, over the top full, with rubber balls. I would have never thought 2 weeks ago that I had so many weighing me down but its true. I have also had my eyes open to the true glass balls in my life those people and things that I will forever hold onto with all my heart and soul. This perspective that I have taken on has made my life so much more simplier. It has also made my life not "normal," as in how it was, which is why I say I don't think it will ever actually return to that state.
We are moving on and pushing through. Skyler is doing well. He went back to PCMC on Friday April 6th for his minor surgery to remove his port, which went well. The only minor set back was when he punched his mother in the face for waking him up. He was all drugged up so I can't really blame him but it hurt and it made my nose all puffy and a little bloody :(. This week we are going to school as a Mommy and Skyler team for only half days. By 1130 he starts to really get uncomfortable and theres really nothing we can do until 130-2pm. He is also really sleepy and has been sleeping for a couple hours in the afternoon. So we are accomidating his healing body and only going as fast as it will allow us. The biggiest trial for Skyler has been just that, he was the kid that would run before he would crawl. He is learning to listen to his body and his Mother and trust that while laying down is "lame" its what he needs to do. Our goal for next week is all day school. I am not sure how we will do this though, most likely I will have to attend with him until he can go the full school day without his pain meds. Like I said this is what normal for us is right now. Thats an update on our life right now, enjoy the pictures!
Love,
Leona (Scott, Star, Bree and Skyler)
Saturday April 7 we went over to Grandmas for the traditional dying of the Easter Eggs.
It was a beautiful day so we moved the party outside into the sunshine.
Skyler went straight to work
Cousin Kaitlyn was so happy to have her Skyler out of the hospital!
Bree, you know what she actually does practice posing :)
The girls
Fun Fun Fun
Later that day we decided to take the train down to Salt Lake City to visit the new "City Creek Center." Basically an over the top mall, which was pretty cool I have to say. Bree was kinda horrified by all the people, and Star was exactly the opposite she LOVED IT!!! Yes Skyler came we took the stroller with us and he used it most of the time, walking for that long is just not even in his range of capabilities right now.
At the fountain in the sunshine.
Pretty much the whole reason why we wanted to go there was to go to the Disney Store. It was really cool, but alas it wasn't really big enough they could have done so much more. The girls loved every moment though. Here they are inside an interactive castle. on the wall behind them there are mirriors and on the wall they are facing are the princesses dress up. You take a wand and wave it in front of the mirrors and the mirror tells you a story about the princess, it was pretty cool.
While we were down there we made a stop by the planeterium.
